Welcome to the website of Lee Thompson Freelance Sound Recordist, Researcher & Technical Assistant.

I have experience working in all stages of production from pre-production to delivery, including story development, offline and online editing and directing contributors for interview and demonstration. Observational documentary, studio based work. I have recorded Sound in harsh environments, including Sub Saharan Africa.

I am an associate member of the Institute of Broadcast Sound and a full member of BECTU with public liability insurance.

Short Film

This is a short film Directed by a talented friend, Paige Copsey. Co-written by Arron Ferguson, and made with the Young Film makers group based out of the Engine Room in Bridgewater. I helped out as a Camera and Sound mentor, was great fun. Look out for their names in the future as they are bound to make it big.

The New Plastic Oceans Website has gone Live!

We will be going into production soon for this project, I cant wait to get out on the oceans and see if we can do anything about the problem of Marine Debris. For now, its education! please pass the link on to anyone you know who loves our Blue Planet.

I am currently working on a multi-media project based on taking the Science of Nitrogen Fixing Legumes to Sub Saharan Africa.

We are about to head off on a european shoot, followed shortly by a 2 week trip to Kenya, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

BBC Talent Pool

Well I have just been accepted into the BBC Scotland Sound department talent pool. So quite happy about that :)

A short film I worked on mentoring some young film makers for the First Light film awards has a good rough cut finished.

Its currently waiting for a grade and some mastering but its looking and sounding good.

"The Apothecary" is a period short about yee old chemist with a sick wife, leading to a crisis of conscience in dark times.

I will post the final video when its finished.

My role was as a mentor for the location sound mixing and boom swinging.

BVE week

Had a great week down at the expo. Met up with some old friends, drank too much wine. Sat in all the seminars I wanted to see and learned a great deal.

Lots of fantastic gizmos and gadgets to turn Video DSLR into a shooting camera, looks to be the future. We just need a main players to make a EX sized camera with a full frame chip, interchangeable lenses and decent mic preamps, and were all in the world of pretty digi features.

I was impressed with, Sadie Version 6. The new Avid Media Composer. Soundfield's new hardy 5.1 mic - ST350.

Which Chris Watson has used to great effect in the Antarctic, recording for "Frozen Planet".

BVE

Tomorrow I shall be leaving the Borders for London, to attend the annual Broadcast Video Expo at Earls Court.

I foresee a fun week playing with equipment, meeting old friends, making new ones and propping up the bar inbetween seminars. Perfect.
